Conversion rate optimization: more customers from the traffic you already have

MarquixAd is a CRO agency. We find out why visitors leave without enquiring or buying, then test changes to your pages, forms and checkout to fix it. Every improvement makes your SEO, ads and social spend work harder.

What conversion rate optimization is

Your conversion rate is the percentage of visitors who take the action you want: submitting an enquiry, booking a call, completing a purchase. Conversion rate optimization is the structured process of increasing it by understanding what stops people from acting and removing those obstacles.

The maths is why CRO matters. If 1,000 visitors a month produce 20 enquiries, lifting the conversion rate from 2% to 3% adds 10 enquiries without a single extra visitor or rupee of ad spend. Your cost per lead falls by a third. And because every channel sends traffic to the same site, the improvement applies to SEO, ads, email and social at once.

Good CRO is not guessing at button colours. It starts with evidence: analytics showing where people drop off, recordings and heatmaps showing how they behave, surveys and interviews revealing what they're worried about. From that evidence come hypotheses, and from hypotheses come tests that show, with statistical confidence, which changes actually work.

Where conversions are usually lost

  • Unclear value: visitors can't tell quickly what you offer or why it's better.
  • Missing trust: no proof, reviews, credentials or clear pricing where people need reassurance.
  • Friction: long forms, slow pages, confusing navigation, surprise costs at checkout.
  • Mismatch: the page doesn't match the ad or search that brought the visitor.
  • Weak calls to action: no clear next step, or one that asks too much too soon.

Who benefits from CRO

  • Businesses spending on ads whose cost per lead or sale is too high.
  • E-commerce stores losing shoppers at product, cart or checkout stages.
  • Lead-generation sites with good traffic but few enquiries.
  • SaaS companies optimising sign-up, trial and demo flows.
  • Anyone about to redesign, who wants evidence before rebuilding.

CRO challenges we solve

Traffic grows, leads don't

More visitors but a flat enquiry count points to a conversion problem, not a traffic problem.

Cart and checkout abandonment

Shoppers add to cart but don't pay. Shipping costs, forced registration and payment friction are frequent causes.

Mobile underperforms

Mobile converts far below desktop because forms, navigation or speed weren't designed for phones.

Redesign opinions

Stakeholders disagree on what to change. Testing replaces opinions with evidence.

Unreliable data

Conversion tracking is broken or incomplete, so nobody knows the real baseline.

Tests that never conclude

Past tests ran without enough traffic or clear hypotheses. We design tests that can reach a decision.

Choosing the right CRO method for your traffic

A/B testing needs enough conversions to reach reliable conclusions. Lower-traffic sites still benefit from CRO, just with different methods.

Your situationRecommended methodsHow decisions are made
Low traffic or few conversions each monthExpert heuristic review, user testing, surveys, best-practice fixesQualitative evidence and before/after monitoring
Moderate trafficResearch plus A/B tests on high-traffic pages with bold changesTests on larger changes that can show clear differences
High trafficContinuous A/B and multivariate testing across the funnelStatistically significant results on smaller, more frequent tests

Business benefits of CRO

CRO multiplies the value of everything else you invest in marketing.

  • Lower acquisition costs across every channel at once.
  • More revenue from existing traffic, without increasing spend.
  • Room to outbid competitors, because each click is worth more to you.
  • Customer insight into what persuades and what worries your buyers.
  • Less risky redesigns, because changes are validated before full rollout.

Quick wins we find most often

Research usually uncovers a handful of problems that can be fixed immediately, before any formal testing begins. These are the ones we see again and again across industries.

Quick wins are implemented and monitored with before-and-after data. Bigger or less certain changes go into the testing roadmap.

  • Broken or unclear forms: fields that fail silently on mobile, vague error messages, or a required phone field that deters people who only want to email.
  • Buried calls to action: the main button hidden below long introductions, or competing with several equally prominent links.
  • Message mismatch: an ad promising one thing and a landing page leading with something else.
  • Missing reassurance: no reviews, guarantees, delivery details or response times at the moment people decide.
  • Slow mobile pages: oversized images and heavy scripts that make visitors leave before the page appears.
  • Hidden costs: shipping or fees revealed only at the final checkout step.
  • Forced account creation: requiring registration before purchase instead of offering guest checkout.
  • Unanswered objections: common questions about price, process or timing that the page never addresses.

Our CRO process

CRO works as a cycle rather than a one-off project. Each round of research and testing makes the next round sharper, because you learn more about what your customers respond to.

  1. Measure

Verify tracking, establish baseline conversion rates and define the primary goal.

  2. Research

Analytics, heatmaps, recordings, surveys and user tests to find where and why people drop off.

  3. Hypothesise

Write evidence-based hypotheses: what we'll change, why, and what we expect to happen.

  4. Prioritise

Score ideas by impact, confidence and effort to build a testing roadmap.

  5. Test

Design, build and QA variants; run tests until they reach a reliable result.

  6. Analyse and implement

Interpret results by segment, roll out winners, document learnings.

  7. Repeat

Each round of learning informs the next set of hypotheses.

Conversion rate optimization: frequently asked questions

Curious about your own site? Request a free review.

What is a good conversion rate?

It varies widely by industry, traffic source, price point and what counts as a conversion. Comparing yourself with generic averages is less useful than improving your own baseline, segmented by channel and device.

How much do CRO services cost?

A one-off conversion audit is priced as a fixed project. Ongoing testing programmes are a monthly fee based on test volume and complexity. Testing tool licences may be additional.

How much traffic do we need for A/B testing?

Enough conversions per variant to reach a reliable result in a reasonable time, which usually means hundreds of conversions a month on the tested page. With less, we use research-led improvements and bolder changes instead.

How long does a test run?

Usually two to six weeks, covering full business cycles. Stopping early risks false results, so we set sample sizes before launch.

Will testing slow down our website?

We use tools and implementation methods that minimise flicker and performance impact, and monitor page speed while tests run.

Can you guarantee a conversion increase?

No. Some tests lose or show no difference, which is valuable learning in itself. What we commit to is a rigorous, evidence-based process and honest reporting of every result.

Is CRO only about A/B testing?

No. Research, fixing obvious usability problems, improving copy and speed, and repairing tracking are all part of CRO. Testing is how we validate bigger or uncertain changes.

Does CRO affect SEO?

Properly run tests don't harm SEO. We follow search-engine guidance on testing, and improvements to speed, clarity and engagement generally support SEO.

Who builds the test variations?

Our designers and developers build and quality-check variants. Winners can be implemented permanently by our team or yours.

What access do you need?

GA4, Tag Manager, your CMS or a way to add the testing script, and ideally CRM data to see lead quality or order value by variant.

Can you optimise our paid landing pages?

Yes. Landing pages for Google Ads and social campaigns are often the fastest CRO wins because traffic is concentrated and costs are visible.

Is there a minimum commitment?

Testing programmes typically run for at least [three months] to complete meaningful tests. One-off CRO audits are also available.
